Goat House Project @ Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennial 2006
Feeding amount > Obtainable amount > Actual amount
The production of animal foods is less energy-efficient and more environmentally harmful than the production of plant foods for direct human consumption. Animals use the energy they get from foods for their day-to-day bodily functions. This means that only a percentage of the energy that animals obtain from plant foods is converted into animal foods such as meat or dairy products. In this project, we feed our goats agricultural residuals or weeds that are unsuitable for human consumption and apply integrated farming practices through utilizing goat manure for the purpose of not obtaining animal foods but companionship and knowledge of the food system.
